Rebecca Leslie: Owner, Buyer, Merchandiser,
Refinisher
Born and raised on Long Island, Rebecca’s mother and grandmother
(a.k.a “Monga”) brought her up appreciating flea markets
and believe it or not, garbage day. Look anywhere around her house
growing up and chances are you’re looking at a found item
that got some love. Rebecca moved out to Colorado in 1992 to attend
CU, where she received her BA in Environmental Design, Architecture.
She then worked a few years in retail as a manager and merchandiser
at a local gift store. Ask her then what her dream job would be
and she would have answered “owning my own little shop on
Pearl Street.” In 1998, Rebecca returned to New York to attend
NYU for a degree in Production Design, where she learned to design
and refinish sets and props for film, theater, and television. But
Colorado kept calling her back and she returned the summer of 2000
and started brain-storming Good Use with her then partner, Kellen
McCluskey. And the rest is… history??? No way! Since opening
the store in November of 2000, Rebecca is constantly thinking up
new ideas and ways to improve her little store and the pieces it
sells. This is an ever evolving business, and keeps Rebecca on her
toes. Chances are you will see her driving around in the lime green
Uhaul with her husband Jason and dog Camper in tow, searching for
(as we like to call them) “treasures.” Or you may find
her hiding in the back, covered in paint working frantically to
fill an ever revolving sales floor. Either way, you’re bound
to find her hard at work. If not, she’s at the spa! |
