Thank you, Boulder for seven GREAT years! As of August 31st, 2007 the Good Use store will be closed. Rebecca has decided, after seven wonderful years as the owner of Good Use, to close up shop for furniture, but we're on to new adventures!
We started out in the summer of 2000
collecting hundreds of furniture pieces, making countless trips
to yard sales, flea markets and dumpsters around the Boulder area.
We stored these pieces in rented semi trailers and carted every
thing back and forth using only an old Jeep and a Neon! We didn't
have a name or a store front yet. BUT WE HAD VERY BIG IDEAS! After
weeks of stocking up, and raising money, we finally found our first
store... A little 800 sq. foot shop at the far east end of Pearl,
and we called ourselves Good Use.
Since our grand opening November 4, 2000, we have expanded not
once, but twice! First into our 17th and Pearl location where we
doubled our sales floor space and settled in for 5 great years.
But as the story goes for many small, independent businesses, we
found we could no longer afford the prime retail location. But
that didn't stop us! In February of 2006, we moved to our current,
even larger Glenwood store. And we're in good company. Our neighbors
include fellow secondhand stores "The Book Worm," "Trail
Kids," and "Rags Consignment." We love
our new location and the parking can't be beat!
We also purchase items at “yard sale” prices. What
does this mean you ask? We pay anywhere from $5-$50 for any given
item. We’re looking to take that old, unwanted piece that’s
been collecting dust in the attic off your hands, and give you some
fun money in return. Because of our system of collecting furniture
and materials, we’re able to not only keep our inventory well
stocked, but also well priced! This means our items turn over VERY
quickly and it’s worth stopping by often. We want to make
home decorating affordable and fun!
Good Use is not limited to just our pieces alone… We will
custom refinish your pieces! Just bring it in for a fresh, new look.
We use a variety of techniques to refinish our items. We will personalize
anything. Choose your color, your fabric, your hardware… The
choices are limitless! We’ll also come to you. Want to give
your kitchen cabinets a much needed face lift? Save hundreds of
dollars by working with what you have.
Since opening our doors, we have been voted “Best Furniture
Store” by Boulder Weekly readers every year. We have been
featured in “Sunset” magazine, “Restoration Style”
magazine, “Working Woman” magazine, and countless newspapers
all over the country, including the “Chicago Tribune”
and “Boston Herald.” Look for us on “Home and
Garden Television’s” website. |
